Submit Your Idea or Technology

Do you have an innovative idea or technology that might be a good fit with L'Oréal and our customers?
If so, our R&D and marketing teams would like to see it.
Before you submit an idea, we want to make sure that you fully understand L'Oréal's process and policies. This system is necessary to protect both you and L´Oréal and to ensure a proper evaluation of your submission. Therefore, we ask that you carefully review our policies and only send us your idea if you are comfortable with these safeguards.
We thank you in advance for considering a partnership with us.

Protecting Your Ideas

Depending on the type of idea you have, you may have proprietary rights to it. Therefore, you should consider protecting your concept or technology through patents or copyrights before submitting it to L'Oréal. To best understand whether you could secure intellectual property protection for your idea, you may want to consult with a lawyer. L'Oréal employees are not authorized to advise you on these matters.

Submission Process

We have created a simple review process to more quickly respond to innovators.

  • You should check the Our Needs page to make sure we’re seeking ideas in your category.
  • You should read our Submission Policy and confirm acceptance of the Submission Agreement.
  • You should then complete the Submission Form to tell us more about your idea or technology. Answers to these questions enable us to properly evaluate your submission.
  • We will inform you within 30 days if your idea has passed our preliminary review. We might contact you during this 30-day period for more information. If you consider such information to be confidential, L'Oréal may enter into a written confidentiality agreement with you at that point.
  • If your idea passes our preliminary review, we will evaluate it in more detail. Within 4 months from your initial submission, we will give you our final evaluation. If there is mutual interest, we will then discuss opportunities and ways to move forward.
Submission Policy

At L'Oréal, we have made Beauty Care the focus of all our energy and know-how for over a century. Our mission is to help men and women around the world realize their aspirations for beauty, and express their individual personalities to the fullest.

L'Oréal continuously seeks to develop and market new products and business processes that help us realize this vision. In addition, each year, L'Oréal receives many ideas and technology proposals from individuals and organizations outside our company. As a result, some submissions from "outside" L'Oréal may actually duplicate L'Oréal’s current or past research and development efforts. Other proposals may simply fall outside the scope of our business interests. That said, you can be sure that we will look at your proposal with an open mind in the evaluation process.

  • We will only evaluate ideas that are submitted under the terms of the Submission Policy and Submission Agreement.
  • We will only review initial submissions on a non-confidential, no-obligation basis.
  • L'Oréal will not be obligated to reveal the details of our evaluation.
  • L'Oréal cannot advise you on patentability or other legal issues.
Evaluation Criteria
While L´Oréal's criteria vary depending on the concept, we generally look for submissions with the following qualities:
  • Original and innovative
  • Good market and sales potential
  • Significant consumer appeal, with key competitive advantages
  • Meets safety and environmental standards
  • Ownable and protectable
  • Reasonable development and manufacturing costs
  • Complementary with L´Oréal's image and products
This policy does not apply to L'Oréal employees, vendors or suppliers. Employees should discuss ideas with their manager. Vendors and suppliers should discuss process and policy for submitting ideas with their L'Oréal contacts.
